Dear Scribblers:

Just another reminder that disaster has befallen my websites, so please don't go to sunscribbles.com or redwaxrose.com until further notice. They've been infected with malware. I'll let you know when/if it's safe to venture into the water again.

Frankly, I've been so bummed at getting hacked that I've seriously considered hanging up the Scribbler's cape. But if I do that, the terrorists win. So ... here goes.

Mary Elizabeth McIlvane writes:

Seminole County Commissioners are receiving Request for Proposals to have their five branch library system management outsourced to a private company. Many people are vigorously opposing this taking PUBLIC out of Public Libraries. Mary Elizabeth McIlvane is helping spearhead this effort to documenting the peoples’ voice e to say NO to outsourcing and YES to keeping PUBLIC in the libraries. This effort is addressed in the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday June 25, page B3

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/seminole/seminole-libraries-outsourced,0,1161882.story

and on Channel 9 website.

Online petition signing with space to make comments is available at

and news and development is updated regularly at

This is virgin territory that is being walked as today there is no Florida public library that is privately managed. Several Florida counties just turned down this direction of private management for economy’s sake. Prime reason is service and patrons needs would be sacrificed. Through paper and online petitions more than 1500 people have signed for their voices to be heard. It appears the Seminole County Commission will not discuss the issue until August at the earliest.
